Reading the New Yorker article about children's illustrated books, it occurred to me that I should probably be reading those just as often as novels. There's a quiet wisdom in some of them that doesn't translate to a lot of other books (The Little Prince, anyone?). I look forward to having children that I can read stories to at bedtime. Some of my fondest memories are of my dad putting me to bed at night.
This illustration from 'Finn Throws a Fit' made me laugh so hard. It completely captures the energy of a child who can't be stopped. I remember being that child, and all I can do is laugh about it now and doubly cross my fingers that I have well-behaved offspring.
