The perfect hair.

I absolutely adore this. This is the precise reason that I'm going through the hell of growing out my hair.

Storytime

Reading the New Yorker article about children's illustrated books, it occurred to me that I should probably be reading those just as often as novels. There's a quiet wisdom in some of them that doesn't translate to a lot of other books (The Little Prince, anyone?). I look forward to having children that I can read stories to at bedtime. Some of my fondest memories are of my dad putting me to bed at night.

This illustration from 'Finn Throws a Fit' made me laugh so hard. It completely captures the energy of a child who can't be stopped.
I remember being that child, and all I can do is laugh about it now and doubly cross my fingers that I have well-behaved offspring.

To do:

Watch the BBC Documentary about Alfred Hitchcock. The only thing I know about him is that he was a very mean man with little patience for child actors.

I have no idea what kind of skills are required for making porcelain bowls, but I wanted to look it up after I saw Samantha Robinson's work. Those colors and detail are to die for.

Strandgut

These paintings inspired me to start painting again. It's a reminder that even something as simple as a color and brush strokes can invoke emotion.

Thank you, Strandgut and Mark Rothko.
