A post without pictures

Thursday, May 31, 2012

I've put off writing this post for 5 days now, hoping to find the inspiration to turn this message into a legitimate, photo-filled post, but I didn't want any more time to pass before I explained the situation I'm in right now. I lost my blog's URL last Sunday after failing to renew it with my domain and someone else snagged it. It was completely my fault for not checking the email associated with the website, but still a hard blow to absorb.
Trent had the idea to make it into THE park street blog, which is more than acceptable. The hardest part about this was the lack of warning, and no way to redirect anyone to the new URL.
Along with losing 90% of my traffic due to the debacle, I had a completely bizarre and totally unrelated loss of pinterest followers. Sometimes over 500 on specific boards. I can't even fathom how that happened, and the combined disappointment of these two events was enough to drive me to a bout of mini depression.
I know it's not about how many people or followers you have, but it's definitely a reinforcing aspect of the hard work I put into it.
I had no idea how literal it was going to be when I wrote about changes happening on Park Street, and I'm going to use this opportunity to develop my blog even more and keep developing my style. I know this blog has gone through a million changes since I first started it in 2009, and each setback just solidifies my love and passion for it.
So, if you've managed to find me again, or, miraculously, you're still reading, thank you. Knowing that anyone sees my words and pictures really does keep me going on those days when I'm completely uninspired and miserable with self-pity.

Don't forget to add me to your readers and whatnot at theparkstreetblog.com.

Love always- Audrey.

Perfect Friday

Untitled

Early morning rain, a clean apartment, a pair of new (frivolous) summer shoes, and an impromptu matinee. It really doesn't get much better than this.

Breakfast

Greek yogurt + some earthy red raspberries = love.

An Outing

Wednesday, May 16, 2012

Trent and I rode our bicycles downtown to one of our favorite Thai places and sat outside. The weather was cold, but we were alone together and happy.Untitled
My favorite aspect of eating at a restaurant is the anticipation.

The waiting.

To be served.

Afterwards, we biked home in the dark, and I quietly absorbed the experience with leftovers in my backpack.

So incredibly thankful.

That look.

So, I've been really, really absent from my blog lately. I've put some thought into what this space means to me and what I do it for, and honestly, I'm coming up a little bit short on answers. Anne Kristine did a really eloquent post about the subject. A lot of my attention has shifted into my physical world- lots of writing in notebooks, hanging out with new friends, painting walls, hanging up art, cooking meals, and riding my bike around (sans camera). I haven't felt the urge to do a lot of public documenting.

I've also been on tumblr a lot more, and even started a second one- Clippings. It's still in the baby stages, but I'm really excited to see where it goes.

Also, some exciting happenings, my friend Jadie and I got together in my kitchen and did a little photo shoot the weekend before last. I made my favorite granola recipe and took her on a tour of my Sugarhouse neighborhood. She shoots mainly portraits and weddings, and she's so, so incredibly inspiring to me. I can't begin to describe the excitement I felt in being able to nerd out about camera lenses and talk aperture.

As you can see, the layout on my blog is back to square one. I'm still pondering which direction I'd like to go with this space, and in the meantime, I'm all plain-Jane.

Thanks for reading, I really love all your input, advice and thoughts.
